Miles is jealous of Ekaterin's friendship with Enrique
Borgos, who puts his dissertation in biochemistry into verse for
her. The scientist-- who works very well with women, notably
under their management-- remarks about Miles' mother, Cordelia,
"The woman is wasted here. All the women are wasted here...."
(224) Borgos is so feminized in this narrative that he is unable
to manage his relations in the public sphere himself. Lord Mark
and Miles, both, are required to act as his patrons and protectors.
